Deviousness |
When I was a kid, I saw a sci fi movie from the 1950's about alien monsters invading earth. I remember becoming really excited, wondering how or if the monsters would be defeated. Finally, the ending came, and I was on the edge of my seat. But, it was only the narrator saying "then suddenly, there were no monsters! There never were any monsters at all! They had stopped existing." Yes, you read that correctly, the monsters attacking earth simply stopped existing. As an adult, a later learned this ending was used because the studio ran out of money for the project, but I remember being quite disappointed as a kid.
Today, I can recognize an ending to anything, book, game, movie, or show, as being not quite as good as it could be. But, I take comfort in the fact that an there can NEVER be an ending worse than the one from that movie, not even this one.
